Year 2 The Great Fire of London Re-enactment April 2019
Year 2 re-enacted The Great Fire of London this morning. We laid out the houses children had made at home in rows just like they would have been in 1666. We discussed how the houses and roads that were built close together helped to spread the fire. As the first house was set alight children were shocked to see how quickly the fire spread. The wind blew and helped to spread the fire along the streets. Children gasped in shock as the fire tore through the houses. They couldn't believe their eyes. After the fire was extinguished, we went back to our classes and had a discussion about how people during The Great Fie of London felt and expressed their feelings. We collect excellent vocabulary from the experience - petrified, unbelievable, astonished and devastated to name a few.
