Revel in Russia July 2019
Revel in Russia week saw the children and staff of Ferrars learning all about Russia. The children took part in lots of different Geography and Art activities. Reception spent time learning facts about Russia to create fact files. Did you know that although Russia is the largest country in the world, it does not have the largest population? Russia’s population is 144.5 million. Year 1 spent time looking at human and physical features of Russia and Year 2 used their learning to compare the UK and Russia.
The pupils also had the opportunity to take part in a number of workshops. The Key Stage 1 children had the opportunity to take part in a dance workshop run by Miss Baptiste. Reception were excited to work alongside parent helpers and Mrs Allen to create traditional Russian dolls. They used strips of materials and string to create little rag dolls.
The children were all very intrigued to try some traditional Russian Food which they had the opportunity to do in their classes and as part of the Friday school lunch. We were very impressed to see most of the children trying food that may be different to the food they are used to.
After a busy week full of superb experiences and Geography and Art work, the children invited their parents to an exhibition held in the hall. The pupil’s work was displayed and they had the opportunity to come and show off their efforts to their parents. There was a wonderful turn out and we were pleased to see many parents there.
