Year 1 Fantastic Finish October 2020
Our Fantastic Finish
For our Fantastic Finish Year 1 went on a walk around the local area just like Beegu did when her spaceship crashed onto Earth. We walked along Macaulay Road then turned into Shakespeare Road. Then we looked at the different homes along these roads and found semi-detached houses, bungalows and flats. Children remembered that bungalows do not have stairs, but semi-detached houses do. We also talked about the materials that these houses are made from such as bricks, glass, wood, metal and plastic.
As we walked along Dunstable Road we discussed why it had lots of traffic and remembered to stay safe and away from the road. The children noticed lots of flats opposite the hospital and some knew children who lived in them. Then we walked down Lewsey Road opposite the hospital. Some of our parents work at the hospital and a few of the children have been to the hospital when they have been poorly. We saw a really huge crane and lots of builders working on a new car park opposite the hospital. There were ambulances driving along the road to the hospital.
At the bottom of Lewsey Road we saw a tower block of flats in the distance. We then walked along Leagrave High Street opposite Lewsey Park. Most of the children have all played over at the park and many of us have been swimming at the Lewsey Pool. The park looked lovely as the leaves on the trees are turning different colours because it is Autumn. We walked up Carmelite Road and saw the post box on the corner. Soon we were back on Macaulay Road and at school again! We had a fantastic time on our walk around the local area.
