Waggle Dance Workshops April 2021
On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have Jess from the Waggle Dance Company come in to teach us the Bee Waggle Dance. We learnt how bees communicate with each other through this special dance.
First we had to warm up and stretch. Then, once we were warmed up we pretended to be buzzing bees in our bee hives. When the sun came up, we left our bee hives and began our waggle dance. We had to hop from one leg to the other, then run really fast on the spot.
After that, we had to write our names in the air with our fingers and then our toes before we made the figure of 8 shape with our bodies. As we reached the flowers, we crouched down really small before flying back to our bee hives to shake the pollen off of our legs that we had collected.
Finally, after a long day of dancing and collecting pollen, us busy bees went to sleep. It is safe to say that both staff and the children, really enjoyed the sessions and learning how bees communicate with each other.
